Hawaii’s most in-depth volcano experience is here! Maximize your day with an 8-hour adventure exploring the iconic sites on the east side of Hawaii Island, including Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Rainbow Falls, and Big Island Candies. Accompany our National Park Certified Guides as you journey through the ever-changing landscapes of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. This is a great opportunity for guests who want a quick introduction to some of the highlights of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Hilo Town in a truncated format.   

Timing:

  • Meet with the MC&A Activity Staff at the LOWER LOBBY.
  • Depart hotel: 7:45 a.m.
  • Return to hotel: 5:00 p.m.
  • Recommended attire includes a light jacket or sweatshirt, wear closed-toe sport shoes or walking shoes, (NO sandals or flip-flops) comfortable walking shorts and bring a hat and sunscreen.
  • Vendor Provided Transportation
  • Guided walk/hike
  • Morning Snack- Island style banana bread and yogurt
  • Filtered water (vendor provides a reusable drinking container or participants can bring their own)
  • Your interpretive guide will illuminate the historical events that have changed the landscape of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park forever
  • Spend approximately 2.5 hours in the National Park, walking, sightseeing.
  • Bento style lunch at Rim Restaurant in the historic Volcano House, overlooking Halemaumau Crater.
  • Choice of entree: Seared Mahi Mahi / Crispy Big Island Tofu / Grilled Teriyaki Chicken / Slow Roasted Kailua Pork.
    • All bentos will include: Potato Macaroni Salad, White Rice Topped with Furikake, Lomi Lomi Tomato, Ahi Poke, Wakame Salad, and Li Hi Mui Tossed Pineapple
  • One non-alcoholic beverage for lunch: Tea / Coffee / Coke Products.
  • Marvel at the stunning 80-foot cascade of Rainbow Falls, set against a lush tropical backdrop
  • Satisfy your sweet tooth at Hilo’s favorite cookie factory, Big Island Candies
  • Use of daypacks, walking sticks, rain gear, warm wear, bug repellent, and sunscreen (as needed)

  1. The menu is subject to change without notice. Bento selection is due at the time of booking.
  2. Physical - Guests on this tour should not be physically challenged or unable to walk short distances of 2 to 3 miles on uneven terrain. (easy to moderate hiking)
  3. Must be 8 years of age or older.
  4. Participants must sign a release and waiver of liability prior to taking the tour.
  5. Please note that consuming alcohol during lunch is not allowed for safety reasons.
  • There will be no refund for cancellations made on or after Monday, January 5, 2026.

  • Cancellation of trip due to inclement weather is at the sole discretion of the vendor.
  • This activity requires a minimum participant count to operate.  Should the required minimum not be met, the tour will be cancelled and refunded without penalty.
