Kuleana Rum Works was founded on Hawaii Island in 2013 to make and share exquisite rum, celebrating the richness of Hawaii’s culture. We are here to elevate rum by celebrating it as a world-class spirit. We do this by making rum from the best ingredients on Earth and without added sweeteners, flavors or coloring.
Rum Tasting: At Kuleana Rum Works, we are farmers, distillers, and blenders. Our signature rum, Hawaiian Rum Agricole has been named a “Top 100 Spirit” by Wine Enthusiast and is made from the fresh juice of estate-grown Hawaiian heirloom sugarcane on our 44-acre farm on the Kohala coast. We also blend rums from around the world – carefully chosen for their purity and rich taste. Join us for a guided tasting and immerse yourself in the Kuleana story, our distillation process, and our blending program.
Mai Tai Mixology Class: Learn to craft the original 1944 Trader Vic’s Mai Tai in a hands-on “talk story” bar lab. Allow our passionate rum ambassadors to brighten your spirit with the historical tale of this awesome and iconic cocktail. The experience will begin with a guided tasting of three of our award-winning rums; Hawaiian Rum Agricole, Huihui, & Nanea. Following the tasting, you will be walking through the process of building a craft 1944 Trader Vic’s Mai Tai using our rums. Measure, pour, shake and enjoy!
Timing:
- Meet with the MC&A Activity Staff at the LOWER LOBBY.
- Depart hotel: 11:45 a.m.
- Return to hotel: 2:15 p.m.
- Dress comfortably.
- A valid picture ID is required to consume alcoholic beverages. Must be 21 years of age and older.
Tour & Tasting Inclusions
- Narrated roundtrip transportation
- Rum Tasting (.5-hour)
- 1/2 oz. pour of each rum: Huihui, Hawaiian Rum Agricole, Nanea, and Hōkūlei
- Mai Tai Mixology Class (.5-hour)
- Following the tasting, you will go through the process of building a 1944 Trader Vic's Mai Tai using Kuleana Rum. Measure, pour, shake and enjoy!
- Lunch Buffet “served family style” (1-hours)
- Mochiko Chicken, Furikake Ono, Pupu steak, Vegan Coconut Curry, Rice, House Salad, and choice of Individual Vanilla Rum Cake or Lilikoi Mouse
