Kona Joe’s Coffee, Kona Sea Salt & Kona Brewing Excursion “The Flavors of Kona”

Enjoy a day full of flavors and a real hands-on experience as you visit Kona Joe Coffee Plantation and Kona Sea Salt Farm.
Kona Sea Salt: One of only two remaining salt farms in Hawaii and located on a gorgeous, 7-acre oceanfront parcel at Keahole Point in Kona within the Natural Energy Lab Hawaii (HELHA) Campus. Learn how Kona Sea Salts hand harvests salt from deep ocean water drawn from 2,200 feet below the surface then enjoy a tasting of this amazing Hawaiian cultural resource.
Kona Joe Coffee Plantation: See how coffee is grown, processed, roasted and packaged at the world’s first trellised coffee farm. Guests will be taken on a 30-minute guided tour of the breathtaking farm & facility, and then it’s time for a custom coffee roasting!
Kona Brewing Company: We will make a stop for a refreshing locally crafted microbrew and include time to shop at Puna Chocolate and neighboring shops before returning to the hotel.
Timing:
- Meet with the MC&A Activity Staff at the LOWER LOBBY.
- Depart hotel: 7:40 a.m.
- Return to hotel: 3:00 p.m.
- Participants should dress comfortably and MUST wear closed toed shoes.

- Must be 16 years of age or older to roast. (Younger guest are welcome to watch roasting process)
- Younger guests still pay the same price. Unfortunately, they cannot roast the coffee, but their parent/adult guardian on the tour can roast it for them, while they watch. Children still take their bag of coffee home – maybe as a gift.

- This activity requires a minimum participant count to operate. Should the required minimum not be met, the tour will be cancelled and refunded without penalty.
